Transcriptional reprogramming under vancomycin pressure in Staphylococcus aureus

چکیده

The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined Vancomycin intermediate Staphylococcus aureus (VISA) and resistant (VRSA) as high priority pathogens. VISA VRSA are produced by different mechanisms, hence cannot convert to VRSA. Consequently, upon vancomycin treatment of VSSA isolates, there can be emergence but not its conversion But we observed that when (MIC ≤2 µg/mL) lacking vanA or vanB genes, grown under stress for 60 days, 4 out 8 isolates get converted = 4-8 µg/mL), 1 ≥16 µg/mL). Further, the isolate had a MIC was 8-fold higher than sensitive counterpart. Hence, been interpreted heteroresistant isolate. To dissect molecular underpinning this transient resistance pattern, analyzed gene expression profile these publicly available datasets. pbp2 consistently upregulated in all except Pathway analysis revealed upregulation peptidoglycan biosynthesis isolates. However, distinct transcriptional (with recR, ureC atl) suggests potential role increased mutation due SOS response biofilm formation phenotype.

Reduced sensitivity of staphylococcus aureus to vancomycin

Introduction: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common causes of infections in hospitals and vancomycin is used for the treatment of methicillin resistant S, aureus infections. Therefore, imergence of Staphylococcus aureus with reduced sensitivity to vancomycin is a serious problem. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Staphylococcus aureus with reduced suscep...

Prevalence of Vancomycin Resistance in Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus

Background & Aims: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common pathogens in nosocomial infections. Vancomycin is the most important therapeutic drug of choice for treatment of infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains. Therefore, vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) or vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus (VISA) strains are warning...

Vancomycin Resistance in Staphylococcus aureus

The evolution of Staphylococcus aureus during the modern antibiotic era has been delineated by distinct strain emergence events, many of which include acquisition of antibiotic resistance. The relative high burden of methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) in healthcare and community settings is a major concern worldwide. Vancomycin, a glycopeptide antibiotic that inhibits cell wall biosynthesis...

Vancomycin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus.

Vancomycin resistance in enterococci, predominantly Enterococcus faecium, developed in the latter half of the 1980s, and the long anticipated development of vancomycin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus has now occurred. A number of vancomycin-intermediate strains have been described, and these strains have abnormal, thickened cell walls in the presence of vancomycin. Two mechanisms of resista...
